charlotte area

hey guys,
I need to get out of this area in the next year or so. And I was thinking western NC might be nice. I want 5 or more acres within an hour or so drive of a major city (Charlotte, Asheville, etc.) Is there still land available in those areas?? I am in IT so that why I am tied to a city.

Re: charlotte area

You would do good to look into Denver, NC area or Stanley, NC area. That is all I know for the Charlotte area. The west side of i-485 is booming but not sure what all little cities are in that area. Just no the East side.

Also maybe look into Rockhill right at the border in South Carolina. It is close enough to get to Charlotte pretty easily.

Stanley, Denver, Lincolnton, Catawba county, there are tons of places that aren't overpopulated yet. You just have to drive away from the interstate to find them.

Re: charlotte area

I have 3 acres in Kings Mtn and love it small town and everything I'd ever need is within 30 minutes of me. Also my taxes and basicly everything is cheaper around here : gas groceries, whatever you need.

Charlotte 30 Minutes
Gastonia 20 Minutes
Rock Hill 30 Minutes

It helps that I live right near 1-85 also.

I'd say anywhere around here is good just depends on what you want. Mecklenburg and Gaston counties are too big of a tax burden to me. I hate paying more just because the city is bigger and I can get the same service if not better 10 mintues down the road. Cleveland isn't bad and there's alot of nice places to live. I may only have 3 acres but I have 6000 plus acres right next to me that will never be developed because the State Park owns it.
