Will a 99 vette T56 work in my 95 TA if I use my bell housing?

Starting in 1997 the Corvette had a transaxle not transmission. Right off the bat there it wouldn't work. The input shaft on an LS1 tranny is different anyway, so would require replacing with a 93-97 style one.
