What do i need to do to update the rear end of my car

Whenever i go over bumps, the car feels like its a little unstable in the rear end. What do i need to get to update the rear end? I have a mechanic who can install it cheap but i just need to get the parts myself. Can i get them for a couple hundred bucks?

#1. What should i do to do it right?

#2. What can i do just to get me by cheaply?

Thanks,
