Went from a 93 to 95 6speed

Ok i had to get rid of my 93 6speed(stuck in 4th overshifted) and i put in a used 95 6speed trans just a couple of days ago. My question is the 95 trans and the 93 is night and day difference the 93 gears were WAAAYYYYYYYYYY shorter after putting in the 95 6speed trans which is from a 95 Z its way wider gearing i mean its extremely noticable and i have 4:10's lol and the gearing is too wide with this 95 trans. Why is that i dont get it, for example on the highway at 65 mph im 600-700 rpms lower meaning its almost like driving on 3:42's rear end even though i have 4:10's were before with the 93 trans i was around 2600 rpms at 6500. I didnt expect it to be such a huge difference in gearing in trannies. Also i had a 01 SS a few years ago with 4:10's and the gears were shorter then the set up i have now i dont get why its soo much wider now with this 95 trans does anyone know. Please help !!!

Q: What are the stock transmission gear ratios and torque capacities?

A: The following were available by year:

Year Model/Optn 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th Final
---- ------------- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- -----
1993 Manual/M28 3.36 2.07 1.35 1.00 0.80 0.62 2.73 (GU2)
1993 Manual/M29 2.97 2.07 1.43 1.00 0.80 0.62 3.23 (GU4)
1993 Auto/MX0 3.06 1.63 1.00 0.70 -- -- 2.73 (GU2)
1993 Auto/MX0 3.06 1.63 1.00 0.70 -- -- 3.23 (GU5)

1994 Manual/MN6 2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 0.74 0.50 3.42 (GU6)
1994 Auto/MX0 3.06 1.63 1.00 0.70 -- -- 2.73 (GU2)
1994 Auto/MX0 3.06 1.63 1.00 0.70 -- -- 3.23 (GU5)

The '95s and later have the same ratios as the '94s. Aside from the CAGS provision and different gearing/input shaft (on the post 93's), all of the 6-speed transmissions are basically the same.

I had the GU2 6speed 2:73's originally but went to 4:10;s, its about 600-700 rpms difference didnt really expect it to be that much of a difference. But i guess its better on gas mileage on the highway and have more traction off the line since its wider gearing now. Thank you for the info and link
