this is what recently happened to my transmission i got off wok i was driving normally i stopped at a red light and when i was taking off i heard a noise coming from the transmission it was like a windy noise it only does it on 1st gear, it doesn't do it after it shifts.. the next day i took it to the shop an they told me my friction plates or something like that are bad an need to be replaced it costs $1600 to get it fixed is it expensive?. my friend told me to take off on second (2) then switch to D (drive) it doesn't make the noise no more its shifts perfect and what i was wondering is if this was bad for my tranny or its better to get fixed ASAP, cause i remember my friend drove like that on his SS for a long time going from second (2) to drive (D).. has anybody have the same kind of problems on their transmission?

1600 isnt too bad for a rebuild, I had mine done for 1900 but its built alittle bit. im selling it now cause im doing a six speed swap but i dont know if it would be the same for a ls1 car

 

Have you had the trans serviced(changed fluid?)Hope this helps.
