Question Nearly had a heart attack!!! tranny related

Well, I have my car at the shop waiting to have the T56 rebuilt, installed with a new Mccleod ST and pro 5.0.

Off the bat the guy told me $680 labor + parts. So I'm figuring parts will run me an extra $300 or so (stock internals plus a steel shift fork).

He calls me today and says the total will be$1700 or more I nearly ished in my pants

I thought I'd be saving money by not buying a new tranny or used one from online.

Moral of the story, get a FULL price quote, in writing if possible. My question is, does that sound like a normal price range?

I had to replace the tranny in my 1994 Z28 because the repairs would have cost more. I paid $1750 for a new (rebuilt) one and that included a shift kit.

I am assuming that you provided the Street Twin and the Shifter, correct?
