Trans help
i recently bought a 93 Formula auto, i noticted that it does not shift at redline. At WOT it shifts at around 5200 RPM into 2nd gear and into 3rd gear. when it shifts inot 4th its at around 4300 RPM at WOT. it seems to shift at around 5500 when its running cold , like when it sits overnight. once the motor heats up it shifts at 5200. no i know my car has a 4L60 and is not computer comtrolled and is controlled by the T.V. cable. I took it to a trans shop and they couldnt find anything wrong becasue they would run it when the motor was cold. does the cable need to be adjusted or is it somthing else?

4l60e and 700r4 are the same trans.
4l60 is just controlled by the pcm 700 isnt by adjustind the t.v. cable you can change the shift points move it a couple clickes at a time and check it |
how do i adjust the TV cable?
|
had my mechanic check out my car today, and he said that the TV cable is in the right postion and that its not the problem. does anyone have any idea of what the problem could be?

Yes.First change the coil wire.If that helps, then it's plug and wires time.Be prepaired to change the wires about every couple of years or so,but the coil wire must be changed about every 6 months or so as part of general maintenance.Also.if the car isn't getting enough air, then install a better intake air system. If your cat is going south, then that to will cause the quicker shifting. It seems the trans listens to the engine for advice, even though it's not electric.Agood running engine will make the trans shift better.Hope this helps.(Maybe the horse power is dropping off,so the trans has nowhere to go but shift.)Well, the guys in the white coats have arrived, gotta go now.My02

Da,97's are electric.Sorry, just got off the boat.Anyway,if the engine isn't running right, you can feel it in the trans.(check the wires and the plugs.).Whew.

did you think i was talking about my RS? im talking about my Formula. yeah the cat might be bad, the heat sheild on that thing has started to rattle so maybe its time for a new cat.
