tranny whining after gear install
tranny whining after gear install
I thought it was the gears, but after a friend rode with me, he said it was the transmission. It started the day I put gears in (4.11). It whines during acceleration and braking, but not coasting. It's loudest when I'm only partly on the gas to maintain speed in 6th, but does it in every gear. Very little ds vibration at higher speeds (above 80 mph). Clutch is relatively new zoom clutch. Everything was professionally installed. Any ideas? Thanks.
Re: tranny whining after gear install
I don't either. It could be the shop, although they did point it out to me, or it could have been unnoticable before, and now it's just louder. That's why I wanted to see if anyone might have an idea.
Re: tranny whining after gear install
If changing the rearend caused the tranny to start whinning that would be a first for me. I would lean more towards gear whine in the rear. I have 3 vehicles and after changing the gears in all of them they have gear whine. You should be able to tell the difference and if it is coming from the tranny that is interesting. You might what to have it looked at if it is the transmission before the problem gets worse. My experience tells me that the longer you wait the more expensive it is to fix.
