torque for tranny pan bolts

i have a leaky tranny pan and i bought a new gasket. when i went to take the bolts off for the pan all the bolts seemed very lose. they took very little pressure to break them lose almost none. so i was just wondering if they are supposed to be torqued that lose and if thats the reason i was leaking. thanks

I found that my tranny pan bolts had a way of working themselves loose over time likely from vibrations. So I kept snugging them up and eventually put a little loctite on them to keep them from backing out. That's likely what has happened to you. They should be snug.

that makes sense cause it started leaking a lot more heavily after a 75 mile drive averaging 80-90 mph. so if i just tighten them all up would that solve my leak or should i just go ahead and replace the gasket? thanks again

No more than 12 ft lbs.
use an inch lbs torque wrench.
I would try retorquing the pan bolts first before I put a new pan gasket on.

Yup, 12 ft lbs. They aren't supposed to be all that tight.
