Skip Shift Selenoid
I busted up this solenoid pretty good, the PCM is programmed to not allow CAGS, do I need to try and replace this sensor/solenoid or will it be OK without it?
I did not see any wrench flats on it to get it out, so if it does need to replace, did I miss something? |
Re: Skip Shift Selenoid
Hard to see how you missed the "flats".... its a huge 1-1/4" hex.
http://cjcfo.fbody.com/members/injun.../T56Conns2.jpg Since you aren't using it, you don't need to replace it.... at least assuming it isn't smashed up so bad that it would be "open" and allow a leak, or dirt to enter the tranny. You can simply plug a 2.2Kohm 1/2 watt resistor in the harness connector, in effect building your own "skip shift eliminator". I'm assuming you just altered the activation parameters to keep it from activating, so you need the resistor to avoid a trouble code and an SES. |
Re: Skip Shift Selenoid
Does anyone have the part number and an approximate cost?

Re: Skip Shift Selenoid
What is CAGS? If you are talking about the stock shift solenoids. They are Delco #10478131. Any Dealer/ Transmission shop should have one in stock. About $35.00, Both the shift solenoids are the same. they are held in by a wire spring clip, that stick up from the aluminum Valve body to the front of the trans. Pull the clip out, then pull on the steel body of the solenoid and it pops out.

Re: Skip Shift Selenoid
Gm part # 12523292 for selenoid. GMPartsdirect price about $77 plus shipping . There is also a seal # 12523293. Since you aren't using it I would call D&D Performance 248-735-6220 or somewhere like that and see if there is a plug available.
