Scattershield

I have a manual transmission 96Z28. What are my options for a scattershield? Trans blanket? Does anyone make a blow-proof housing?

Easy search, this one is currently being discussed in another thread.

Mcleod makes one for the t56 ls1, i would believe they make it for lt1s also. around 430 worth spending the moeny to save your legs

Joe - Sorry I didn't help more before, but I was doing the searches myself, and then didn't see this thread again & forgot. Right now I'm planning on an Exotic Muscle trans blanket and some reinforcement on the interior side of the tunnel because from what I found, the Mcleod gets awfully expensive.

Sniper: $430 sure would be worth it, but is that for everything needed? I think converting to the Mcleod bellhousing for LT1 requires a different style clutch, actuator, & trans input shaft, too. And maybe even flywheel?

I saw a post about how rediculously expensive the LT1 Mcleod conversion was, but don't remember the details & can't find it again.

Here's a substantiating comment about the clutch and input shaft: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...onversion+cost

i am not too sure what is intailed in a scattershield for an lt1, but the ls1 is just a direct bolt in, i would assume its the same. scattershield is a lot safer than a blanket, either way one should be done. i would rather know that my legs are safe then the stock bellhousing.
