rear end gear questions

i have a 97 z28 6 speed and i was wondering what rear end gears i have stock and what brand of aftermarket gears should i get, richmond or motive?

All 6-speeds ('94+) came with 3.42's. Try doing a search on gears, 'cause this is a pretty common topic. Just about any brand will be ok.

Richmond gears are known to produce a bit more noise than the Motives.

Pete above once got a bad set of gears from Richmond and my gears also make a bit more noise than what I'd consider normal but they are installed properly and there is no unusual wear so I'm not worried.
