Rear end bearings?

Rear end bearings?

im replacing my posi unit and gears and i went to one of the few shops that actually said they would press bearings on but they wanted almost 100 bucks to do the carrier and pinion bareings and i cant afford that
so i was wondering if there is any way i can do that my self
any tried and true methods that any of you have used?

you need the right tools for the the job.

Yeah, this is one of those things that you really need to let a shop do. Open up the phonebook and call every place in town. I got charged $10 by a local shop to do my bearings. Call automotive machine shops, dealerships, autozone/pep boys/etc, anyplace that sells car parts. You want to have them press the pinion bearing off the old pinion while you wait so you can measure the shim and put the appropriate shim on the new pinion before they press that bearing on.

well its all good i just went and bought a press from harborfreight for 100 bucks and i figured id sell it when im done
cause the place that would doit around here wanted like20 per bearing but thanks for the advice
