Poly trans mount

I just had a new poly transmission mount installed and now the car has a very noticeable vibration which even creates interior noise. Is this normal or is there anything that can be done about it?

This is a very common falicy. The trans mount does not cause any vibration. It makes a more solid connection between the drive train and the body so the the vibrations that were already there are transmitted into the cabin where you can hear and feel them.
It will soften a little with time and you'll get used to it.
Some that want their high performance sports cars to be glass smooth and quiet just swap back to a stock mount.

Yeah I had my local auto repair place fix my bad trans mount and they ordered this poly one instead of the stock one and said it's more heavy duty so thats why they got it. I like my car to ride smoothly so I guess I want the stock one. I do have 373 gears and have a trans-go shift kit which shifts very firmly so I dont really know what I want to do about it.

bah my experience with the poly trans mount was retarded i couldnt even get on it without feeling like the whole car was going to fall apart. there are mixed stories some with good reports and some with bad. its not that i couldnt stand it more the fact i didnt want to driv it cuz i thought my teeth were going to rattle out of my mouth it was so bad. i went back to a stock replacement and its a night and day difference.

stocker +1

No the mount won't cause more vibrations, it just doesn't absorb the normal vibrations like rubber will. I know a guy who owns a performance trans shop here. He advises against poly trans mounts because it causes problems, read breakage. If anyone wants to know the whys and hows from him, he is a sponsor on ls1tech. IM me and I'll give you his contact info there.

I've had a poly mount installed in no less than 6 of the 10 fbodies I've owned, and never any breakage of any kind. However, on the A4's when it was in place, I notice vibrations on the inside of the car increased quite a bit more than on the m6's, but there could and would be reasons for this.

I would assume in time, and as a car gets older, you will notice this more and more especially with that energy suspension poly mount - it is hard as a rock compared to stock, may as well be a solid mount, lol.

Mate it with poly torque arm bushing & LCA/Panhard bushings and deal with it, or shoot for a 1LE mount if you prefer it softer would be my advice.

I hate mine, its been in for the last month when my car was still running. It makes you feel every bump in the road right up through the trans. Cant wait to get that pos out of there.

the poly trans mount no dought transfers more driveshaft vibration to the chassis.my story sounds just like everyone elses on here.i changed to the poly transmount and got a wierd vibration. then, i changed driveshafts to a aluminum aftermarket and it went away. i think these vibrations everyone seems to be having can be attributaded to worn u-joints or other driveshaft vibrations being compunded by the firmer mount.same thing happend to my buddies 3rd gen,new u joints and a balance fixed it.
does anyone with an aftermarket or new driveshft have this problem with the poly trans mount? its kind of funny, my 95 was stock when i started trying to find the sorce of the vibration.a new trans and converter, some suspension and 4 tires later i found it was the driveshaft, i just couldnt feel how bad the u joints were with the rubber mount in there.oh well,at least i can cut 1.9 60' now.
