Oh man here's what I did (photo)

Ok I started a thread a bit ago when I thought I destroyed my T-56 tranny:
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=511616
Turns out I basically did. I destroyed my clutch, bent up my synchros and forks, and messed up most of the internal gearing. The entire tranny is getting rebuilt. Here is what my clutch looked like when it came out:

I was also missing the metal busing connecting the tranny to the crankshaft so the tranny shaft had a bit of play in it.....apparently the shop that installed the 383 forgot to put that vital piece back on the shaft of the tranny Lucky it didn't break worse.

I am replacing the clutch w/ either a Centerforce DF, or a Mcloyd Street twin. Also I am getting a new billet flywheel, a new harmonic balancer, the tranny rebuild, new rear end (moser dealer doing my work), and new gearing (prob 4.10...getting rid of the posi for sure). I am going to have him weld in my subframe connectors and possibly going to do the port/polish job on the heads and make the car scream. Either way this tab is gonna be $$ but the job will be done right.
What else would you guys do...and show me some destroyed clutches to make me feel better!

If the pilot bushing (or bearing) was not installed in the crank, that is what destroyed all of that (transmission, too). The thing costs a few bucks. Too bad it was not put in there. The shop should pay for all of it, IMO.

If it makes you feel better I have trashed 2 transmissions, 2 rear ends, and tossed the DS once.

This is with a bolt on LT1 by the way.

Thats no kidding. Whomever it was that did your 383 should be held accountable for the damages that resulted from their stupidity.

Yeah the car has 17k on that engine since anyone was in there so its surprising it didn't break sooner w/out that bushing. Also that engine was put in down in KY and I'm in IL now.....either way it may be worth a phone call eh? It sucks that all of that happened because of one little $4 bushing...

Are you going with a better posi or a spool? Is this going to be a track only car? Just wondering why you are getting rid of the posi?

Are you sure there wasn't a pilot bearing in there and the bearing exploded? Thats what happened to my stock clutch...........cracked the center out and the dampner spring got stuck between the disc and flywheel.

No, that pilot bearing was definitely not there. The only thing that came out in pieces was the clutch.

I am replacing the clutch w/ a RAM clutch setup that is good for up to 800hp (according to Crazy Charlie). He is running that clutch in his drag car... I am not making anywhere near that much power but this clutch will be good for the head work coming up. All said and done, my bill for just parts which include the tranny rebuild, the ram clutch, the new harmonic balancer, and the billet flywheel came to $1300. I still need to get the new 12 bolt on, and put some gears in there...but this will come when I can actually drive it again. I should be back to cruising this weekend...hopefully!
