Need new posi for 12 bolt (broke eaton)

Hi I need a new posi for my moser 12 bolt. I had an eaton, but one of the spider gears cracked and broke off in there (killing my ABS sensor, ring & chipped a ring gear). It happened in the first couple of months of owner ship, but I didn't drop the cover for a long time (thought "ABS Inop" was just an electricaly bad sensor, not a smashed one) So I am out of warentee and out of luck, so where can I get a posi that is worth a chit. I put my spool & 4:56 gears in it for now so I can drive it, but I hate the spool more than anything (except when I go racing). It's murdering my new F1 tires when I turn at low speed. I don't care what it costs (not to exceed $1300) I just don't want junk. I have 33 spline axles. I did see one company out there Quaifeamerica.com it seems cool, but what's the real deal?

I checked out quiafe, and there stuff is ultra cool, but they don't have one for a 12 bolt. So, I gotta keep looking.

I would contact either Moser or Strange, I believe they have those Eaton Posi units custom made with the 33 spline inserts.

I know moser sells the eaton unit, but I was wondering if there was something better.

The Eaton posi is the best posi for the street.

I actually think it's the only option other than a Spool... They MAY make a Locker for 33 spline axles, but I'm not sure.

I thought that the side gear problem was fixed. How old is the rear??
You could buy just the parts and fix it. At least the Eaton posi is rebuildable. Most others aren't.

Re: Need new posi for 12 bolt (broke eaton)

The rear is a little over a year old now. I could of rebuilt it, but they want $275 for the rebuild kit. I just didn't want to spend time and money fixing something that would just fail again, in a short time, in the same way. If that's my only option I guess I have to take it. My friend and I build the car together, and this time he did the gear swap, but ended up putting the berring caps on upside down, so the carrier shifted while it was under load (caps can not tighten all the way down) and sheared the carrier berring mounts clean off the thing (looks cool ), and supprisingly, asside from the horrible noise and vibration, the car drove home. But hey chit happens.

Auburn makes a standard and High-Per posi for the 12-bolts. You might also want to look at their Detroit lockers or bettwe yet... an electronic locker. Their new electronic locker is a 2.5:1 bias ratio POSI when unlocked. No need to choose between the two any more.

They have 10-bolt and Ford 8.8" units out... the 12-bolt and 9" units will be out in October. MSRP ~$600 on the 12-bolt.
