Need help diagnosing a driveline noise after drags please....
Heres what I have. 95Z with a stock 6spd, Moser 12bolt, 33 spline axles, 3:73 posi, Denny's Nitrous driveshaft and a McLeod street twin. Went to the track today and was launching off the bottle (150 shot) at about 3000. It was hooking hard and ran 60ft's in the 1.6's all day. Started hearing it get noisy at the track, but was hard to hear with helmet and open exhaust. Really heard it on the ride home. It's a really loud howling noise but only when decelerating or coasting in neutral. Any gear at any rpm and any speed. Can also feel, or what seems to feel like a very slight grinding or vibration when almost at a stop. Like between 5 to 10 mph. Feels and sounds like its coming from right under the shifter, but the nature of driveline issues says this isn't always the case. Don't feel any clunking. The rear still seems tight. Don't think it's gear related cause it still does it coasting in neutral with no load on the gears. Bearings in the rear in think it's in the tranny? I'm kinda leaning toward a tranny issue, but would like some input. Tranny is original with 80k on it. Moser is 5 months old but this was it's first trip to the track. Going to get under there tomorrow and see if I can find anything obvious. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
