need 5 speed help for my S10

i have a 94 S10 w/ a 4.3L and 5 speed. when i shift gears,my trans. makes noise....not grinding,its just like u can hear it being shifted and i dont think its supposed to be like that. And another thing is that if i try to put it into reverse,it grinds....but if i put it in like 1st or 5th and then do it,its fine...WTF??
i checked the clutch fluid and it appeared fine.

Happens with all 5-speeds in Third gens. I imagine same in '94. Doesn't hurt anything to just go 5th -> Reverse. Good luck!

THe reverse thing happens in 4th gen v6s as well, including my car and my dad's car new off the lot.
