My M6 All of a Sudden Became Hard to Shift

Ok, a bit of a story,

Took it in to have my clutch done (did not want to do it myself) and while in there they had the tranny out (of course) and found play in the input shaft. I saw this and agreed to have the bearings replaced and have the guy reshim it. This was done to the input shaft only.

So I pick up my car and the tranny feels different...like it is saying "now your in 1st NOW in 2nd. A very obvious engagement was happening. Maybe like more distinction regarding edges from ratio to ratio. Anyway, I had to break in the clutch so not any hard driving for 300 mi was accomplished.

Ok going down the highway today, I want to try and see if my clutch has seated. I take it from 3rd at WOT 4500 RPM and quickly go to 4th. Hmm clutch is holding and NOTHING out of the ordinary is felt. so a few sec. later, I want to go into 5th and that is where I find out I can't anymore. Heck, I tried 3rd, 5th, 6th witout success. So I drive home in 4th. At the one stop I had before the garage, I had to spend 10 sec getting into 1st. 2nd was not easy and I limped home to the garage with reverse being a pain to engage.

Now NO grinding was ever felt. All engagements when accomplished were solid and no grinding or popping out. Also in the garage playing with the shifter (car not running) 5th and 6th are almost impossible to get over to (need both hands) and all the other ratios take turns on being hard to get in and out of.

What do you all think it is? Yes, I am going to talk to the shop.

Bent shift fork(s)? Syncros (do not seem as likely but I am NOT an expert)? If fork, is that something a weekend mechanic such as me can work on?

Thanks all!

Ben
