Just had spec stage 2 installed

Just drove the car home with the new clutch put in and have a question. I am getting insane clutch pedal vibration when at a stop in neutral. Is something like this normal witha new clutch installed? Will it go away??

Re: Just had spec stage 2 installed

Take it back ASAP.

There should be no vibration with a new clutch, problems will only get worse with time. They may have not aligned the disk or resurfaced the flywheel or tightened the bolts back down, who knows, but if it vibrates like that in neutral it sounds like your clutch disk and the flywheen are skipping up against each other or something.

lol, i saw it after i bought my clutch. I don't think it's the clutch itself, more like the installaion of it, or something else.

Re: Just had spec stage 2 installed

well the guy who did the clutch was their today...probably quit knowing my luck. So I did take it somewhere and had them drive it and they said that the t/o bearing probably wasn't installed right. I don't know anything about transmissions..i try not to touch them. Was what greendemon said about the clutch disk and the flywheel are skipping up against each other have something to do with the t/o bearing??

Re: Just had spec stage 2 installed

The throwout bearing could also be a cause, it can make sounds when it engages the fingers on the pressure plate assembly, although it shouldn't make noise when the clutch pedal is all the way down unless there's not enough free travel, which would be very bad for the life of it. If the vibration won't go away someone's going to have to take it apart and see what's doing it, it shouldn't be too hard.

Re: Just had spec stage 2 installed

well when i took it to this other place, they said that thet/o bearing might not be spinning, causing the vibration, is that possible?

Re: Just had spec stage 2 installed

Well, I took it back top the guy who did it, and he said that it doesn't seem like anything he hasn't felt with a new clutch before. The vibration at idle doesn't seem as bad as it was before...almost gone now. It's just the vibration you feel when driving, becoming some what more harsh the higher the rpm's go. He said that it feels like that because the cluth is breaking in, and will feel like that for a while, and that the "glaze" is still coming off
I wish I knew more about transmissions and clutches......

Re: Just had spec stage 2 installed

Could these be the symptoms of a bad flywheel? I'm wondering if he actually resurfaced it like he said he did....

Re: Just had spec stage 2 installed

I just installed my Stage 2 yesterday and feared it because of these threads cursing it, but it makes no noise at all and engages just fine! I got the steel flywheel with it as well so if that makes a difference at all, i dont know...I think there are just some bad mechanics among us.

You know SPEC requires a pretty agressive breakin right? Burnouts... hard launches ETC... have fun...

My Spec Stage 3 is on the way.
I was wondering how long do yo need to drive it like an old lady to get it broken it?

Or, can you just take it up to the track the same it you get installed and drive it hard!?
