Interchanging Torque Converters

I've got a 97 GMC Sonoma with a 4.3 V6 that I'll be putting a 95 LT1 into this winter/early spring. One thing I got wondering is, because I don't have enough cash for a converter at this time, would it be possible to use the converter out out of the Sonoma when mating it up to the LT1 for a higher stall? I almost don't think so, I want to say there is some reason they won't interchange, but I don't remember.

An S10 torque converter will increase the stall in an LT1 to about 2200 rpm if I remember correctly. Guys were doing that on this board a few years ago. If you are using the same tranny it will definitely fit as long as the LT1 flywheel bolt pattern matches the converter.
Do you have to change the motor mounts?
What about the pcm? will the LT1 pcm plug into the tach and speedo that is in your truck?
Just curious.

Re: Interchanging Torque Converters

Sweet, a cheap stall converter! I'm gonna use the tranny that came with the lt1. The motor mounts are custom. The LT1 pcm will control the engine and I believe it also controls the transmission. The s10 pcm is retained for guages, abs, and whatnot. The engine wiring harness can be adapted, but I'm gonna have a guy build me a custom one to save some headaches.
