Anyone know what the specs are for this? Would it be applicable to use a dial indicator on the shaft to check the side to side endplay??

you can find this in the Manual for the T-56 that you can download from the tremec website. it is in pdf format, i printed it out its about 45 pages but towards the end it gives all the torque specs and the endplay

 

The endplay should be .000 to .002 according to the manual.
