I want to buy a new shifter for my T56
I want to buy a new shifter for my T56
Hi everyone,
My T56 is sitting on the floor in the garage and it's ready to be reinstalled.
The B&M shifter that is on the transmission is pretty worn; and it's vague at finding the centers. I sometimes have to be careful on hitting the gears right.
I am thinking of replacing it. What I don't know, and can't find, are opinions on whether or not I should order another B&M, a Hurst, (THere's two models), or a Pro 5.0 stick.
I want smooth & solid shifts and I want to have the stick return to center when I let go. The only other odd thing is that I have this transmission installed in a third-gen. The transmission is a 1994 LT1 version from a Pontiac with lots of other oddities & one-offs but the holes all line up and that's what probably counts the most.
Could someone shoot me some advice and opinion on which of the four available models seems to offer the most solid shifts? They all seem to be about two hundred dollars from JEGS or Summit.

Re: I want to buy a new shifter for my T56
I've been driving with the Pro 5.0 for a few months now and I love it. I didn't shorten it either. Here's a thread where this guy shortened his but you don't have too:
shorty Pro 5.0 shifter. - LS1TECH
