height difference in poly trans mount vs stocker
height difference in poly trans mount vs stocker
Just like the title states, i installed a prothane tranny mount in my 2000 SS m6, and im getting vibrations at speed. I know the mount must have thrown off my pinion angle, but i already tossed my stock mount. Can anyone give me a measurement of their stocker? Or does anyone know the difference in height? Thanks in advance!
Poly mounts are known to transmit vibrations; I removed mine from my 95 M6 after a month and went with the 1LE style. My friend put one in his 95 A4, terrible vibration with the automatic tranny.
Here is a comparison with an ES poly mount. That's all I have.

Thanks Shoebox, that should help
If anyone has a stocker laying around that they could measure for me so i could know exactly how much i need to shim the cross member it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Have you considered that perhaps the vibration indicates that there is something else wrong? If you are getting excessive vibrations perhaps the driveshaft is out of balance or something else in the drivetrain. The stock mount might have been able to absorb these vibrations but the urethane isn't. Something else to consider...
Judging from the picture it would appear as though the 1LE mount is even higher than the poly mount so if your thinking were correct it would be even more vibrations due to the additional height.
Another thing to consider is that stock bushings are going to mush down a little over time so the height comparison photo might not be 100% accurate- but should give you an idea at least.

).The 1LE and stock mount part numbers were merged years ago, but I don't know which mount came out of the merging. People were using LS1 mounts after that because they were a little stronger and less prone to tearing.
