Have to rebuild my T-56 ... Questions

The synchros are going on my tranny and I need to have it rebuilt. Is there any performance rebuild kits available for it with strengthened parts or anything? I really don't know too much about rebuilding a manual so ...

Point me in the right direction. I plan to eventually supercharge/spray it when I have the time/money so I want to rebuild the tranny right the first time.

These guys carry the parts, do the work also if you want them to.

Re: Have to rebuild my T-56 ... Questions

Thanks and ...

Long term goals would be shooting for a blown&sprayed 383, what tranny upgrades are worthwhile which ones are not? Im basically saving $$$ to build it as an awesome street car, a 383, ported heads, mild-moderate cam(For stroker motor, Ill probly get a custom ground "blower" cam), 8#-ish procharged intercooled , maybe more depending on my budget and how the heads come out and everything ... and a N20 kit ... Im shooting for 500-600 STREETABLE horsepower, possibly higher on the gun. It really is dependant on how much money I have since I cant just upgrade the drivetrain and never touch the chasis ...

anyone can run a huge cam and make that power, only a few can make that kinda power on pump gas though, and thats what I want. I understand their big gaols, but it is doable, and unfortunatly my tranny died on me about 2 months back.

So that said ... Which of the tranny upgrades are and are not needed to build an awesome street car that can take abuse, but it wont be a strict track car? Apparently the syncronizers lol ... But what else? I figured the output shaft upgrade would kind of be a waste inless id be launching it hard all the time ...

I would call those guys.

But i know alot of people here are running big HP, 600+ thru stock internals t-56s. I think they are fine at these power levels until you start doing big RPM clutch drops with slicks on a prepped surface.

The BW version is a pretty tough trans. As long as all the gears are in good shape with good wear patterns and no broken or chipped teeth, they're fine for about 600rwhp. This is where i see many start to have problems, while some have taken 7-800rwhp on hard launches for a fair bit of time on stock internals. Just install new syncros (or rebuild them with the syncro rebuild kit), install new bearings, steel (viper) 3-4 shift fork, and you should be ready to go.

The greatest upgrade is the G-Force kit, which replaces about everything in the 1-4 gearsets/shafts. At $5-6000, you better decide if you want to keep the manual or convert to a built auto like a TH350/400 or 4L80E. Check out D&D's website for their list of parts.

I have the BW rebuild manual in pdf format (about 40megs i think, maybe less). But have no place to host it. I would PM "Injuneer" (Fred) on this board, i think he still has the link for it as he's where i got it from about 2 years ago.
