GM 4.10 gears in 02 Z28

I am intersted in putting some 4.10 gears in my 02 Z28 (original 3.42 gears). I was looking at http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=261351 . I see that they have GM 4.10 gears for $159.95. Is that a good deal? Are they quality gears? I also notice people talking about 2 or 3 carriers. How do I know what I have and what gears will work with it? How about there install kit for $39.95? Thanks for any help.

Since you currently have 3.42's, then you have a 3-series carrier, thus would require 4.10's for a 3-series carrier .

As far as I've heard or read on here, GM gears are supposed to have a good reputation for being quiet gears. I just had Richmond 4.10's installed in my car (today, in fact) and they have a very slight "whine" to them, although not very bad. However, I had a set of very "whiney" Richmond 3.73's last year.....Richmond's tend to be a little noisey, but then again, I've heard that's because they're built with a higher nickle content to strenghten them??

.....back on topic, I think that seems like a good deal for gears, and with the M6, 4.10's will be great!

Sounds good to me. I just got a set of Used GM 4.11's and then $45 for a ratech install kit and another $18 for a sold pinion spacer. I did the install myself. Didn't have the marking compound, so didn't check the pattern, but they only have a slight whine at about 45. I plan on going back in and redoing the setup. They deffinitaly make the car pull bette.r

i say go 4.11's with a 9pinion 37ring gears (pretty sure that's it)
they are stronger than the 41pinion 10ring gears and are less likely to break from what i hear (just had a discussion on this about a week ago)
that's what i'm gonna do once i get the money
just a suggestion
