Gear and shifter ?

FOund a great deal on a 94 Formula really close to me that im hoping to pick up in a day or so. The last 4th gen i had was 3.23 geared but sadly this is a 2.73 car. It also wasnt optioned with z rated tires so the speedo only goes to 115. I have a set of 3.55's to put in. If i change the gears can i reprogram the speedo with say a hypertech and use a 155mph gauge plate? Or do i need to buy a 155 guage cluster? Also since it's 2.73 i cant pull it into first gear. Can i just trim the plastic with s dremel, or is it a lock in the shifter that it cant hold first? Thanks.

A mailorder tune can recalibrate your speedo for the gears and you cannot put it in first.

OK now here are the correct answers...

You can not use a 155 faceplate on a 115 cluster or it will read off with any ammount of tuning, but clusters are cheep on ebay I picked one up for like $20...

You can make it select 1st gear by pulling the console and removing the plastic/rubber stop on the shifter, many have done it before including myself, no dremel needed just a razor knife and 10 minutes of your time...

BTW, please don't use hypertech to tune it...

Nah, i wasnt going to tune it with the hypertech, just use it to recalibrate for the differents gears. I used a madz28 tune on the 93 i had, and will be getting another for this after the longtubes go in.

I was told you can't recalibrate for 93s.

To tune it, not recalibrate it for gears.
