I have no idea with an auto, but I gained about 1 mpg after my 4.10s/tune on my car with a 6 speed.

where do you do most oif your driving? id say in town about the same, on the freeway, loss of about 3-5 mpg

I hope you're not implying that the gear change helped your fuel mileage.

depends on your driving style and habits
me for example, i am rarely ever in 6th gear because i dont get much faster than 55 in my area
if i went to 3.73's i would probably be able to utilize 6th gear more often and it may give me better gas mileage

My "average" city/hwy mileage hardly changed from 2.73's --> 4.10's with the A4 ;). Typically I would get around ~220 - 230 miles/tank doing mixed driving. On the highway was the biggest difference, where I could get as much as ~300 miles/tank w/2.73's, but that dropped to around ~265 miles/tank w/4.10's. For me though, it was worth it :thumb:. And again, on average it hardly changed (I rarely do straight highway driving anyway ... a lot of my hwy driving is stop-and-go, which is no different than city  ).

The change in gearing now makes your 6th gear act like 5th and your 5th gear like 4th, ratio wise.
