ES trans mount install

I got an ES trans mount that I pulled from my old 94 Z years ago that I'm finally going to install on my current ride. I remember the instructions saying to make sure you put the mount on a certain way but can't remember if the curved side was pointed to the front or the back. Can anyone help me out with this?
And also I'm reading some guys saying that the spacer it comes with is not for our application. Is this true? Wondering if I should leave it off this time.

Thanks

Re: ES trans mount install

The spacer should be used for sure on LS1's.. I would think it be the same on LT1's but hopefully someone can verify.. As for the curved side, it should face to the rear of the vehicle. I just did this install myself a couple weeks ago on my LS1, so the facing I am sure about. But the spacer plate I cannot promise. However, I dont think the tranny mount changed from LT1 to LS1. I would include the spacer if no one else answers for sure...

Audiopro, thanks for the reply. After four years of waiting, I just couldn't remember which way it was supposed to face. I guess I'll put the spacer on unless some else chimes in about it soon. Had the spacer in before with no problems but after hearing some people say that it doesn't belong, just kinda got me wondering. Thanks, I appreciate the info.

I believe it will help with vibration problems if you don't put the spacer in, so I'm pretty sure it can go either way.

Re: ES trans mount install

AFAIK, If you do not include the spacer then you are changing the pivot angle of the driveshaft too much, which causes the vibration. The mount is about 1/4 inch shorter than the stock mount, including the spacer helps this problem, which is why they include it. I installed mine with the spacer and after reading of so many people having vibration problems with the ES mount, I was apprehensive to see what it felt like. But once I finished the job and took it for a spin I was like..... Ummm.... What vibration...

Re: ES trans mount install

yeah I've been hearing guys saying that removing the spacer helped with their vibration problems and also that it is not for our application. I'm trying to find out if it is a fact that the spacer does not belong there or just an opinion. Some were saying that adding the spacer makes the tranny mounting height higher which causes the vibration. As I mentioned before, on my 94Z, my experience like audiopros, was no problems with vibration. I'm thinking that some cars react differently to the mount. I guess I'll just do it with the spacer then see if this car will have any problems.
