Driveshafts/Ujoints

Ok, I'm trying to sort this out once and for all. Fill in the gaps or correct where neccessary so i can make a nice complete conversion table for all the poor souls upgrading their rears and recieving misinformation.

Stock Rear = 3R
Steel LT1 Driveshaft = 3R or 1310?
LS1 Driveshaft = 3R or 1310?
1LE Driveshaft = 1310

Stock 10 Bolt = 3R
Ford 8.8 = 1330
Moser 9" = 1350
Moser 12 Bolt 1350
Strange 12 Bolt = 1350
KTRE 12 Bolt = 1310
(note: aftermarket rears can be ordered with different yokes)

Re: Driveshafts/Ujoints

There are four common ujoint types:

1310 Spicer Series: 1 1/16" Cup Diameter 3 7/32" length

1330 Spicer Series: 1 1/16" Cup Diameter 3 5/8" length

3R Saginaw Series: 1 1/8" Cup Diameter Retained with internal clip 2 5/8" Length. Most common GM joint.

1350 Spicer Series: 1 3/16" Cup Diameter 3 5/8" length

Re: Driveshafts/Ujoints

Since all those driveshafts fit in the stock 10-bolt, I'd assume they all have the same u-joint, apparently the 3R (I didn't know that, thought it was a 1310). And the KTRE usually came with a 1350, though all of those aftermarket rears could probably be ordered with 1310 yokes if you wanted.

Dave,
I listed the KTRE as a 1310 because this site said the 1310 was standard and 1350 was an upgrade (probably a popular one).

I'm honestly not sure whether i have a ls1 or 1le aluminnum driveshaft on my car since i bought it used. It has a conversion joint in it though. Also check out this thread http://web.camaross.com/forums/archi.../t-136408.html .

I measured mine and the stock 10 bolt is definitly 1 1/8 cap which is a 3r, sometimes called 3011.

Re: Driveshafts/Ujoints

Brent, Here is some info I found when I was trying to find a conversion u-joint to use my 1LE ds with my Moser 9" 1350 pinion.
