Driveshaft

I am working on putting together a procharged setup somewhere in the area of 525rwhp. Could a stock LS1 driveshaft hold it or would I have to get an aftermarket one? I'll be running a 2800 stall and bfg drag radials. Hopefully I could just go to an LS1 for about half the price.

Re: Driveshaft

I'm sure there are people using the stocker, but its cheap insurance to go with a strong aftermarket. I broke a stock 1LE in half on the dyno at 400rwhp. I have since switch to an A-1 Driveline 3" steel that has been proven in 9 second race cars...Its well worth the money and it wasn't that much...I'm assuming that you have a 9" or 12 bolt and a built trans, suspension, too..With that kind of power you'll definitely need it...Good luck...It'll be a beast...

Yes I will have either a 9" or a 12 bolt soon. I can't decide which one to get. still studying the pro and cons of each.

Re: Driveshaft

Your present driveshaft will fail when you punch it with sticky tires. I upgreaded to a Denny's nitrous ready driveshaft; good product.

Re: Driveshaft

I just had one made locally out of Chrome Moly Steel Drive Shaft with Spicer trans yoke, 1350 front & rear U joints and runout less than 005. I paid $311.00 out the door with tax. When you measure the shaft, remember to measure twice and cut once.
