The viper T56 has shorter #1,#2, and #3 gears then an Fbody T56.

Where did you get this info??? I'm positive the viper T-56 has the same gearset as the 94+ f-body T-56 (2.66/1.78/1.30/1.00/.74/.50). Main durability advantage of the Viper gear box is the larger diameter 30 spline output shaft. Most of the viper tranny internals are identical and/or interchangable between the f-body t-56 (including the 30 spline output shaft, which can be installed with some minor machine work).

I heard that the shift forks were cast iron in a Viper while the F bod had aluminum?

Yes, but not all the viper T-56's were equipped with them! They were built with aluminum forks just like the f-body for several years. I think GM T-56 has recently got the upgraded forks as well ('03 and '04 model years for GTO/vette?).

Vipers and 94+ Fbodys have 2.66/1.78/1.30/1.00/.74/.50

93 Fbody T56's have -First 2.97:1, Second 2.07:1, Third 1.43:1, Forth 1.00:1, Fifth 0.80:1, Sixth 0.62:1

So maybe I was only half right
