Clutch fully engaged after little pedal travel!

Hi all, I was wondering if you could help me on this.

New Spec stage 3 and an aluminum flywheel install, now clutch fully engage after little pedal travel. There's not much travel to work with, it’s almost either engaged or not. The best thing I can do is to really feather it until it starts to roll then let it fully engage .... man try doing that from a stop light in the rush hour

The shop says that it will start to smooth-out after few hundred miles, but I’m not sure about that as the car doesn’t feel right at all.

I would really appreciate any feedback on this problem.

Take care,
Adsonic

I know even my stock clutch replacement took a good 500 miles for the engagment point to be back at the top again.

Thanks for the reply.

But what I'm trying to say is that my problem isn't related to the clutch pedal being too low or way up (I have an adjustable master by the way). The problem is that the full swing of the pedal isn't used at all, I have like 1" of pedal travel from no engagement to full engagement. That’s too tight, is there anyway to spread it to be like 6" or something?

welcome to high performance clutches. the answer is no. only thing that might happen is less chatter after a few heat cycles.

I had the same issue with Spec Stage 3, it was on/off and lots of chatter. It got a little better after 6 months. It broke 2 springs in the hub though and I didn't even know it.

Now I installed the Street Twin and it feels like a stocker. Really amazing!

You’re the third one that had the same exact problem like mine and all of you went with the Street Twin and never looked back.

I guess I'll start saving up for the Street Twin.

My clutch does the same thing. I installed a street/strip clutch made by zoom. Their headquarters are here in mooresville. They said that the clutch was designed for drag and road racing. Having a high clutch allows you to shift much faster due to the fact of only having to press the pedal a fraction of the way. I'm guessing that the clutch you have was designed about the same way. And as for the chattering, I had the same problem. It was a bad pilot bearing. The clutch disc had warped itself due to the extra play, I'm just glad that Zoom stands behind their product. They replaced the disc at no cost to me. And also, did you have the aluminum flywheel balanced? and who did the install?
