Broke the slave cylinder...
 

I broke the slave cylinder, the part that connects to the tranny and the rod inside it depresses in teh clutch fork.

Does the slave cylinder just unbolt from the braided stainless steel line?

How do i bleed the system after i put the new slave cylinder on?

went throught the same thing and the best thing to do is buy the whole unit from gm it only 134.00 and come in one peice knoe bleeding, youget the master cylinder and slave. some have been able to work all the air out but thats uncommon.

Why is it uncommon to be able to bleed all the air out??? I mean this isn't brain surgery right? I know how to bleed my brake system, how do i go about bleeding teh hydraulic clutch system after i install the slave cylinder?

The slave doesn't come with a specific way to bleed it, so it's a bit weird. Go here http://www.caspeed.com/ and look down the left margin for the notes on clutch slave cylinder replacement - he has info on how to bleed it.

your right its not brain surgery, its harder. theres is no bleedl screw to bleed it now try bleeding your brakes without a bleed screw. its just best to replace it all.

You can actually bleed these closed systems pretty easily.When you get your new slave take the the strap off the rod(do not cut this off you will need to put this back on later.Fill the slave up with brake fluid with the rod extended out,then go ahead and connect slave to steel braided line.Now fill your res up and make sure it stays full. With the line hooked up let the slave hang down.Pump the slave with your hand 15 or so times untill their is no air bubbles coming out the top of res.If you dont have a helper to watch res while your under the car pumping the slave cyclinder,dont worrry you can pretty much tell when you have it bleed because it will get pretty tough to push.Dont forget to put strap back on the slave before installing .Also the first few times you pump your slave cyclinder,check res level there will be some big air pockets.All your doing is back feeding the system,its not that tough.

tried that been there done that. even took the slave and master cylinder off the car and try to bleed it so it would be even more straight up and down.

and even though it feels tough with your hand, that on little air bubble in there will not move the pressure plate because it takes alot more pressure to move it, than your hand can force, so you my have one air bubble in there and not no it, and feel like its all out but when you put it on its no go.

the time you spend doing that you can make enough money to buy a new one from gm.

i lost my slave one day while sitting in traffic! that sucked!


i bought just the slave and saved a ton of money over buying the whole assembly. including bleed time it was installed in less than half an hour and I do not have any problems....

i bought the slave cylinder by itself, and i'm going to install and bleed it later today... sounds like its not really that hard to bleed... thanks for the help :)

I installed and bled the slave cylinder...works perfecty fine now
