Auto trans/road race questions.
Auto trans/road race questions.
Hi everyone.
I have a 99 Z28 automatic that I want to take to some HPDE's. The engine and tranny are stock. I want the trans to last so I was thinking of getting a deep cast aluminum pan with cooling fins and 2 extra quarts of fluid as well as a tranny cooler eventually. I also want to get a shift kit, from searching it appears that everyone goes with the transgo, does anyone have any comments on the B&M shift kit? Is it necessary to reprogram the PCM to improve shift firmness or would this negate the need for a shift kit? I imagine the increased pressure will help the tranny life.
I am also keeping the stock torque converter because it seems to be very tight.
Any comments as to what I should do to help keep the trans alive? (I don't want to do a complete rebuild yet because the engine mods will be limited to bolt ons so I still get good fuel economy)
Thanks,
John
