Auburn diff in a 1994?
Can someone help me out? I'm trying to determine of this kit will fit in my 1994 Z28. This gear set is for sale locally for $350 and is advertised by the seller to fit all 1980-1994 GM 10 bolt 7 1/2 and 7 5/8 axles. It advertises the .373 gears, everything needed for installation, and an Auburn Limited Slip Differential. All parts are brand new. Can I swap the diff out and remove the Torsen? Is this even worth attempting? I have set up a late '70's 10 bolt before, put in .373's, installed a 1992 Auburn limited slip factory diff from a Caprice cop car, and put it in my '56 Chevy, with no troubles and no gear whine at all. Of course it was on a bench... I don't know what rear end ratio I have now, but I'll find out.
Well I can't seem to load the images. So I guess all I've got is the part numbers for you all. Auburn Limited Slip part number 542044.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jason

I thought of that after I posted this. When I changed the diff out in my '56 I had to go to 30 spline axles instead of 28. This required some major confusion about the rear drums and pads. I'll look into it. Anyone know if the speed sensor reads teeth on the pinion? That's what the caprice gears came with. So if my camaro needs a speed sensing pinion, then these won't work. Thanks again, Jason
