Strange makes HD 12-bolt rears.

Since you're from Michigan, head over to the Great Lakes forum and search for Scott K (1BAD86Z) and see what he can do for you.

:thumb: Thumbs up for Strange Rears!! :thumb:
Strange is a direct bolt up, it utilizes all your old components. Moser requires you to get a shorter DS with their 12 bolt.

I agree that the Strange is an easier install. But if you need a 12-bolt, you need an upgraded driveshaft anyway.

Re: anyone besides MOSER for direct bolt ins?

what other down sides are too the moser 12 bolt?
i know the torque arm bolts are no longer through bolts, but 4 bolts, two on top an two on bottom

i didnt know u need a shorter driveshaft

at least with a strange rear you can buy a 1le or ls1 aluminum driveshaft and it would fit

if u need to upgrade u can get anything fit for an f-body isntead of getting custom made

what about the ford 9inch"?
does the driveshaft bolt up the same, the torque arm, the control arms and phb?

currie makes them at around 1500, with 31 spline axles i think
moser has them at 1800 with 30 or 31 spline axles
then theres strange at around 2500 with all the goodies

in the end would it really be worth it to go with a strange
would u get a better deal with the 9inch?

i'm sure alot of other people are wondering the same things and are tired of searching old threads

Just my opinion but if they make a bolt-in 9in like the strange 12 bolt i would rather have a 9 in anyday. Sure does make gear swaps easier when you can drop the center section.

Whatever happened to they guys making 8.8 fords to fit F-bods, that would be a nice choice.

Re: anyone besides MOSER for direct bolt ins?

I went with Strange and am very happy for the following reasons:

-Fully assembled, and filled with fluid, no bearings to press on...
-The TA mount is a bolt thru design with nuts similar to stock, the Moser has four bolts and they tend to back out of the mounts unless tack welded
-If you order the ABS option (LT1 cars, 3 channel) they include trick caliper backing plates, so no need to send yours
-33 splined axles, screw in studs, and an 800lb preload spring Eaton Posi is standard
-and, although a minor detail, the rear has the little clamps that hold the hard brake lines to the rear like factory; no need to zip tie your lines to the housing...

The only downside was that it took 6 weeks to get, but they said they were having utility problems with power in the shop....I also looked at getting the Moser 9", but you lose ABS with 3 channel cars...

Where did this come from?? Myself and plenty of other people use the stock driveshaft with the moser 12 bolt.

Re: anyone besides MOSER for direct bolt ins?

I had to shorten my driveshaft 3/4 of an inch. I would have bought a 9" instead of a 12. Also the moser 12 bolt uses smaller bolts for the tq arm so you need to weld somthing with smaller (1/2" i think) holes to the tq arm or eventually it may wear an elonged hole through. I think the moser are the only one like it. Most strange rears are not as loud as moser's. Moser has had left some rears go out loud as hell and they will tell you it for the hard core and no warranty. Also break in the gears do as the instructions say.
