Are all 700R4's the same?

need to know if the car and truck 700R4's are the same. I have a friend with a 83 Buick Lesabre and he needs a new trans, a 700R4 but I found alot of them but most from trucks. I know the newer ones may have different connectors. If anyone knows. Thanks

AFAIK, the tailshaft lengths are different. I think there are three lengths. The truck most likely has the long tailshaft; not sure about the Buick.

early 700's had a small input shaft, 27 spline (82-84,85) (85,86- newer) have 30 spine input shaft, lockup wiring/pressure switch's in the trans vary from year to year

What motor does the Buick have in it??

I don't know squat about '83 Buicks. Do they still have the BOP pattern bellhousing or is that after they all got the Chevy style?

That's why I asked about the motor. If it's a Buick motor then it's a BOP bell on a th200r4. If it's a chevy motor then it's a th700r4
