700r4 problems

my trans in my 92 firebird has a small problem. maybe you guys will help me. when i put the car in drive, it hits really hard. as you drive it, the revs will be between 2500-2800 before it shifts into second. and the same thing for third and fourth and dont know about lockup because im not going to go that fast to find out. has this happened to anyone before? the trans is stock and the torque converter is stock. thanks guys.

check the throttle valve cable at the throttle body. if you disconnect it pull the cable out to see if it sticks. if it sticks take the cable out of the transmission(8 or 10 mm bolt) and pull the little metal rod up and down. it should want to pull itself inside the trans. it sounds like a bad throttle valve(tv) cable, stuck governor, stuck tv valve inside trans

ive tried the tv cable at the trans and it does go down with some spring retention and the cable isnt binding. dont know about the governor or anything internal.

the governer is on the back of the trans and is a large cover that you pry off with a screwdriver. pull it out and clean it with brake clean very good. a good adjustible one also help if you need a new one. if the part in the tranny moves easily most of the time the valve is good
