my dads buddy has got a 69 SS and he wants to put a Richmond 5 speed in it,but wants to know if he can keep the factory consol in the car? he doesnt want to cut it up or lose it.

highly doubtful...it wouldnt be possible to keep the stock center console un moddified on my '69 bird anyway.
I can certainly understand his desire to keep it "original", but I think the best he can hope for on this mod would be to not cut the car up, i.e. although the stock console prolly cant be used with the richmond tranny, he prolly could keep the car's metal work original & put the stock console back in if/when he wants to put it back to stock. Perhaps a customized junkyard console could be used with the richmond....
