A few months ago I posted a thread stating that my transmission was no longer shifting into third gear. I got a few responses hinting at the possibility that it could be the 3-4 gear clutch. Could there be any other reason? Does the transmission have to be completely removed in order to properly diagnose the problem, or can I snoop around and find the cause myself? Im really looking for the most economical solution.

 

The 4L60E is a very complex transmission. I wouldn't advise trying to go at this yourself. You'll spend more in tools and parts than you'll save. You also run the risk of damaging more than you fix.
