2001 Camaro SS Clutch problem

I just bought this SS about two weeks ago and the clutch just went out. Pedal right to the floor. Here are the symptoms:

I started driving it one day and it was clutching fine, all of a sudden the clutch pedal got sticky. It clutched but only recoiled about half the way back. So, I pulled it back with my foot. I was at a red light and I couldnt get it into first to get it going, so I waited and it started working again. Two days later after letting it sit I checked the fluid in the master cylinder. It was full but it looked like some dumbass tapped it off with oil. It was too thin to be oil but it looked like a mix of DOT 3 and oil. So, I had a buddy help me drain it and refill it. Got it back looking good again and I bled it so it was working normal. Took it for a test drive, same thing happened. Seems like if I stop at a stop sign or just let it idle for 20 seconds or so, my clutch comes back but only for a short period of time, then it just goes right to the floor and doesnt come back. I did bleed it properly and there is not any air in the line whatsoever. So, what would my next step be? I appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,

Eric

You probably need to replace the master cylinder and/or do the drill mod.

not having the "drill mod" done wouldn't cause the issues you are describing ....least not all of a sudden and under most driving conditions.

but a faulty MC could definatly cause it.

you're sure you aren't leaking fluid?

i had a similar problem, turned out the hard line into the slave broke and was hemoraging fluid.

the RAM adj MC is only about $140 and while it's out you can do the drill mod...not too pricey of a fix.

I got it all apart and it seems like there is quite a bit of play up and down and whatnot in the master cylinder. I'm new to all of this but the drill mod went successfully. Thanks to you both for your help. Im going to replace the MC tomorrow morning. Ill let you know how it worked out. Once again, I appreciate your input.
