What ET to expect with a 116 MPH trap?

I have had the chance to run at the track once with slicks on my car so. This netted a 12.3@115 MPH - on a 2.0 60' time. The clutch (factory Valeo) was slipping BADLY - thus the 2.0 60' - the tires were NOT spinning.

Anyhow, Last night I went out again, and managed a 12.7@116 MPH on my DAILY driven street tires - 2.2 60' ft time. (Bridgestone Potenza RE-71's)

I am just curious as to what E.T.'s I could expect (realistically) out of a 116 MPH trap speed - once I get the clutch worked out and strap on the slicks again. I am "guesstimating" 11.8 - 11.9 with a fairly mild - solid launch.

If you need more details of my car - they can be found at www.nvmyz28.com

Running Spohn Torque Arm/Panhard/LCAs - stock suspension ontherwise - other then front springs. SLP Subframes. 3.73 gears, M6, 383 w/ 100 shot NX wet.

I plan on using either a Spec 3 Carbon clutch - or a Mcleod twin disk - and running on 16" ET Streets

Keep in mind I am running at ~4,600 (sometime the air is equal to ~5,200' !!! ) elevation in Utah ;)

Thanks for any input.

I would say 11.8's-11.9's also. :)

I went a 11.66 the other night with a 115 mph trap.

i went 12.1 @ 116 on a 1.84 60 :( my ET streets were too dried up .. they wouldnt hook worth schit

LOL I like your sig sideways.

I would expect high 1011's. Guess which of the 10 people I am.

Trapping at 116 , my ET's have been in the 11.80's .

If the car is geared to cross the finish line at or just after the red line in high gear (no OD), a 116 mph should be around 11.4 - 11.6.

When I had a 383 stroker and 3.27 gears I ran 117 mph at 11.9 but had lots more rpm left at the end. 3.90 gears would have been better so that I would have crossed the finish line at my red line.

Don't tune the car by watching your ET. Do changes to increase the MPH. A predicted ET from the MPH can change too much depending on many factors such as launch rpm, gearing, tire size, shift points.

.

Thats the issue my car faces . Im leaving a little on the table thru the traps . I should be going thru close to 6800 rpms , but my to small 3.73 is limiting that 5700 .

116 mph should net...

... in the real world 11.6-11.7 ETs, depending on air and traction.

By the way... a real drag car is designed to go through the traps at at least the RPM shifted at, in your 1-1 ratio gear and LOCKED in 3rd gear if A4. When I ran 4.56 gears with 28" tall tires, I was real close at about 6300, locked.

116 is a good trap speed... so far it is my best also! Good Luck!:D

et

i went 11.6@118
11.4@117 and my PB 11.37@121 spinnin biotch...could have been a low 11.....:(

the 11.4 had a 1.66 60'
the other two runs were1.73

With an M6 car the trap speed will be higher than an A4 for the ET. I ran high 115's and a few 116's and went high 11's with my old combo.

This is generally true. I said GENERALLY! I'll put my MPH's against any M6 cars for the same ET range! My T-converter locks at 95 MPH or just past the 1/8 mile marker, in third gear. Hence no slippage or VERY little, just like a M6 car, plus I have the benefit of increased torque multiplication off of the line!

You CAN have your cake and EAT it too! ;)

You were probably making alittle more power then. What were your 60ft times? I did low 1.7's with 340 rwhp. If you were making the same hp with and A4 trapping the same MPH as M6's then you are a special case that I have never seen before

Actually...

Generally low 1.5X sixtys now. A 2.77 torque multiplication and 4140 RPM converter help the leaves considerably! ;)

The only time Redbird was on a Mustang dyno, she only made UNDER 320 HP and TQ. Not that impressive!

If people would only learn to have their converters lock and gear properly, you can hang with a M6 on the top end. When my converter locks it's just like hitting a fourth gear. The pull is outrageous.

Most automatics go through the traps unlocked, hence slipping.
The top end is not a slippin A4's strong point!

You must have some inside info then.I have never witnessed an A4 with less power trap the same as me. Who makes your converter?
