I want to get it mapped but there just isn't anyplace very close to get it done. It will be at least a 2 hour drive to get to a good shop.

185, thats a lot of power. I would say mine would be lucky to be 150hp at the wheel, at least that is around what some of the stock bikes in the mags were.

Hopefully it will get a little better with more mileage as well, as it just has 1200 miles on it right now.

Yeah the more miles you put on it the more power it will have up to a certain point. The engine just needs to loosen up.

Yeah the Busa responds well to mods, more than most other bikes do, advantage to having more cc's I guess. My biggest problem is that the damn thing spins the rear tire too easy. That's why I was saying I needed a sticky tire.

I wish I could have 2 bikes, second would be that GSXR1000, nice bike.

I think I am done modding my bike for a long time. There really isn't anything else I can do except Nitrous, Turbo, or big bore all of which I don't need.

There are a few Busa's were I normally go race at with nitrous, and I saw one with a turbo. That is a little too radical for me.

Yeah i wouldn't want to be in a corner and have the turbo hit boost. i figure they are already fast I don't need to go that crazy.

How much hp do you think I could pick up with a good map?

depends, you said you had an exhaust I would say 5 to 7 at the wheel, maybe a couple more. I read an article recently that got a GSXR1000 in the hi 160hp and all they had was an exhaust and a guy put a good map in it.

I read something like that, it was in Super Streetbike, I think.

I would like to drop a few tenths on the bike but don't want to put a lot more money into it.

Yeah that's the magazine I was talking about. Now that I think about it, it might even have been low 170's, it wasn't that far off of the Hayabusa.

If you want to take a couple of tenths off, get it mapped. It will not only bring up your peak HP, but it should help it out through out the torque curve. Another thing that will help without spending too much would be to lower the front end with some drag staps, like $30 and go one down on the front sprocekt $25. Hell after doing this and some practice I would bet you would be close to .5 seconds quicker.

I have the front end strap already. I have thought about changing the gearing but can't decide for sure how many teeth difference I would want to go.

go one down up front, any more thant that and you will be hurting yourself. Another option is three up in the back, but then you are coming close to needing a different size chain so be careful. One down up front is equal to like 2.4 up in the rear, so it's much easier to just change the front. The lower front sprocket will make your short times much lower as long as you can keep the front wheel down. The only downside is that your top end will go down(which I am sure you don't use much anyway) and your speedometer will be off a little.

You have any pictures of your bike?

I only have pics of my old GSXR 1000, the blue and white one at the link in my sig, but I have been planning to take pics of the black and silver one, just haven't gotten around to it. I will do that in the next few days.

I don't use the top end much at all, I just cruise it around usually, the only time I run high speed is usually at the track.
