Brand new bikes--

R6 will run mid 10's @ 130-ish

R1 will run Low 10's (low low 10's).

Quick, nonetheless

An R1 can break into the 9s with a good driver.

With an awesome rider--yes. I just said low low 10's because chances of being that good are slim.

R1's kick booty though!

getting a bike down the track is way harder then a car, esp a stock one. launching is very tricky. takes lots of practice and eats a lot of clucth. But yeah an excellent rider can break into the 9s on an r1

I just bought an 04 r6 (silver w/black flames) a little over a month ago. I ran a 12.6 @ 122 (never raced a bike before), My friend has an 03 r6 with a scorpion slip on plus he's been riding for about a year and a half, and he ran 11.6 @ 121. High 10 sec on an r6 is doable, but not likely for the majority of riders.

I have to agree after my run against an R6 the other day. He did not pull me, I stayed beside him. Next time the bottle will be opened!

Agreed. I got my mid 10 quote from a magazine where they ran like 10.50. They also ran 10.28@130 w/ an '03 ZX6-R 636

good luck pulling a 9 with a stock r1, i think the first street bike in the 9's was a zx-12r about 2 years ago, i believe it was a 9.99. Most people usally run a second slower than magazine times tho.

First bike to break 10.0 was a Kawasaki ZX9, I don't remember what year, but I want to say a 1998. Kawais have always been good 1/4 mile bikes. If you want to get a bike and want to drag race it stay away from the R1. It's so light it's hard to launch. A lot of people are breaking into the hi 9's with them now. A Busa and a ZX12R are good 1/4 mile bikes because of the weight and length. It's not all that hard with a decent rider to hit 9's with a bone stock Busa. A lot of people are getting into low 9's with just a couple of small mods like lowered front and rear and re-geared, not even anything done to the engine as small as an exhaust. If you want to just drag it on ocassion go for the R1, if it's an 04, they are hot as hell, love the way they look.

The new R1's have good power but they really suck to launch. I ran one of my friends 04 R1, the first time I had ever rode the bike I ran a 10.5 @ 137 on it, not a very good time but it pulled a good mph.

On my bike the 2001 GSXR 1000, only mods being a Yosh Tri Oval slip on exhaust, lowered and strapped. I have pulled a best of 9.89 @ 138

what was your 60foot time.

I am hoping to get into the 9.2 - 9.3 range by the end of summer.

My Busa is lowered front and rear, air box mod, aftermarket cams(Webb), Brock Hindle exhaust, K&N(which suck), short air stacks, power commander and custom dyno map.

I am going to re-gear it down in the front and try to loose some weight myself. I know the bike is capable of getting into the eights with a great rider the way it is, but I will be happy with low 9's.

I think I am going to need a sticky tire too.

My best 60' wasn't great it was a 1.67 on my best run. I think I could probably get a 9.70 at least if I could make my self launch really hard.

I have added the Yosh EMS on mine since that run but still have the stock program in it. Would like to find someplace to dyno tune it when it get programmed.

Good luck with the low 9's.

That's actually a pretty good 60 foot time. I have seen some people in the 2's and still hit nines, granted they are running about 250HP. Right now my bike has 185hp and 106trq at the wheel.

GET YOU BIKE MAPPED!!!!!!!!! Trust me you won't regret it. It has been my favortie mod so far. It costs anywhere from 200 to 300 to get it done but it's worth it.
