Tire wrinkle

How much is too much?
28x10 ET street radial

I think my tire pressure was 16 psi on this launch and i got 1 hop out of the wheels. at 18psi i spun a little but the track was cold. @ 13.5 psi i broke the converter lol

If it works, it works.. Is that a 275/60/15 Drag Radial or a plain ET Street

STIFF wall slicks, Radials Slicks, and Drag Radials were made for heavier cars like most of us have. There is ET to be had by NOT wrapping up the tire like that and a stiffer tire also rolls with less resistance so it's like free power.

My Hoosier 275/60/15 Radials wrinkled that much at 16psi hot and went 1.41-1.45 all day, NEVER spun. My ET Streets wrinkle a LOT more than that and have also gone 1.45. The radial is a LOT more stable once you've left the line though. They make a bias ply nylon tire feel dangerous.

The radial should let you run more air pressure. I'd stay up in the 16-18 range.
Get a good hot burnout and hit 'em with as much as you can. I don't worry about sidewall wrinkle. I look at contact patch and striping to check for tire shake. You want to get as much cross section contact as possible without shaking the tires.

That wrinkle is just about right. The wrinkle is at the bottom and slightly forward. You don't want to see a wrinkle on the back part of the tire and you don't want to see the rim driven into the ground.

All tires no matter what their size or construction should run as much air pressure as possible before 60' time slow down. I don't do it, but adjusting pressure 1/4 - 1/2 pound can make a big difference. I set my 32x14 slicks to 8 psi and leave them there. Radials generally want a lot more pressure than a bias slick. The increased pressure also reduces rolling friction while going down the track.
