Life of slicks

When or how do you determine the usable life of slicks. I dont mean due to wear, but due to age.
Does three years sound like too much?
Is there a way to preserve them?

I wouldn't trust them ! 130 mph blowout can cause a lot of problems

Re: Life of slicks

If you have had them for 4 years and they aren't down to the cord, you shouldn't have slicks.

My problem is how many sets I go through in a season.
