No problems. Might possibly throw an ABS code, but it didn't on mine. I ran mine like that for a week when I was between tire sets and it was no problem. The 28" fronts will change your rollout significantly.

i have a thirdgen...no ABS problems for me

Could you explain "rollout" for me? i am unfamliar with that term but i am guessing it has something to do with reaction time?

Rollout is actually the amount of movement that can take place before triggering the quarter mile clock. The pre-stage and stage beams are 7" apart in IHRA event competition. The amount of forward motion your car can move prior to breaking the stage (second) beam is the amount of rollout.

When you break the stage beam the timers start to record your elapsed time. A larger tire size will allow for a longer rollout thereby resulting in lower elapsed times but a delay in launching (reaction time) so the point where you press the gas pedal must be adjusted. It is generally easier to adjust the car than the driver, however everybody makes their own choices in this matter.

You may notice that some people deep stage. This is when a competitorrolls far enough into the beams so the pre-stage bulb goes out. This creates a shorter distance to the finish line, usually a quicker reaction time (due to very short rollout), and usually a softer elapsed time (so most people dial up to account for this tactic).

My buddy Michael Beard has some good reading for you on his website for more information:

TNT, how much or is that a trade secret. I just put on 28" tires on the front, replacing the 26". Note the 28" tires do rub on the plactic inner wheel wells when turning. These are my track wheels and tires so no big deal.

What I know is not exact. When I had 26" fronts I had to leave when the light was on solid. In other words, I couldn't punch it on sight, I had to punch it when it was solid.

With the 28's, I can leave on an actual reaction time (my eyes to the bulb). Now when I see amber I can hit it and the car seems to start the launch cycle when the light is solid (difference between me reacting when it is solid and the car reacting when it is solid). I don't know how to quantify that difference except that I am more consistent when I react to the light rather than guessing when it is on solid.

TNTHUB, thanks. I'm in the same boat. If I go on the flash I go red. I have to wait for a "big" yellow. Sometimes a good light sometimes a bad light. I hope the 28"ers will help. That is if I ever get the car back together.
