Is this a normal time to run???

I went to the track today and ran consistant 14.9, 15.0, 15.0.. I was really let down, hoping to run a high 13 or low 14. I was my first time at the track with it. My 60' was 2.2 all three times, and my reaction time was .027, .024, and Im not having traction problems. Maybe my tires are too big

Re: Is this a normal time to run???

A4 or M6? My buddy hasn't run better than 14.6 with his '96 T/A, A4, 2.73's originally, or even with 3.42's now. In his case, traction has been an issue though (18" street tires). If you have an M6, there's a chance you're bombing your launch and/or shifts?? Even my LS1 has run 14's though, so it's not unheard of to have a slower than usual car (depends on the day, driver, conditions, and a whole bunch of other crap).

With a 2.2 sixtry foot time something is probably wrong if you are not spinning. Perhaps your tansmission/torque converter or clutch is slipping? Hunidity can kill your ET and so can shifting.

What was the 1/8 mile split? What wad your MPH at the 1/8 and 1/4? reaction time does not affect your ET.

Re: Is this a normal time to run???

ur tires are fine , u dont have 18s and 275s u shouldnt have a whole lot of spin unless they are bald
some things to think about ,
when was ur last tune up including filters etc
how humid was it
what temp was ur car running at
what is ur elevation

u def shhould be in the 13s high 13s but 13s nonetheless

Re: Is this a normal time to run???

Im in Central FL, Humidity was low, it was actually pretty cool out. Car is automatic. 1/8 mile was 9.7, 9.6, and 9.6. Temp was about 170-180. Ram air with K&N, cleaned and oiled last week. Last plug change and tune was about 20,000 miles ago.

Im not sure of the elevation. I was in Gainesville, FL. Its just really frustrating. Makes me not want to waist any more money on the car..

you need to practice your launch that might be the problem

My stock 94 Z-28 with chrome 18s and a stereo system in the back ran 13.8 when it was stock so u must definetly have something wrong. youre gettin outrun by mustang GT times...... try changing your plugs.... give it a good tune up

Re: Is this a normal time to run???

How much oil did you use on the K&N? Anything more than a very light mist could create a problem with your MAF. Almost everyone I know uses way too much oil.......

Also, what about mph. With ET's that high I would expect only mid to high 90's.... 96-97......... When my car was stock it ran 14.1's at 98.... With headers it ran 13.5-13.6 at 101......

I have run at Gainsville. It is a good track. It can get quite humid and low humidity for Gainsville would be high humidity at my home track up here in Maine. Still, I'm betting on some sort of slippage.

Bigger tires shouldn't slow you down unless they have a larger diameter. If they are the stock diameter you should be fine. Possibly a plugged exhaust (cat) could cause this problem and if your mph is low I would look there first.

Also, 2.2 sixty foot time leads me to think that you had to be either spinning the tires or the transmission.

Re: Is this a normal time to run???

Have you tried seafoam? You could have a carbon build up as well. Are you running premium unleaded? If the car knocks on lower octane gas it will automatically retard the timing which will slow you down a lot.

Re: Is this a normal time to run???

Just had the cat removed, but I didnt have the canister coming off the drivers side manifold removed. Carbon canister?

My MPH was 92, i just ran seafoam through my last tank of gas. I was actually thinking that today, maybe my injectors need cleaning.

Always run premium gas, and probably do over oil my K&N....

Tires werent spinning much at all...and as for the transmission, I dont think it was slipping.

Re: Is this a normal time to run???

You say you are tired of wasting money on it, but what performance mods do you have? The TB coolant bypass and MAf don't count, a muffler doesn't do squat, so you have a cutout and programming. FWIW, my car went 14.4 @ 98 when it was stock A4 with 2.73s. 92 mph is VERY slow. I have 3 friends with CRXs and STOCK motors running that mph. It might just be a low powered car.

Re: Is this a normal time to run???

92 isn't even close to what you should be running for speed. Has your gas mileage gotten worse lately? Heck, sounds like you may be running on seven cylinders to have a mpg that low... Pull the plugs. Something is really wrong.
