NHRA exhaust rules?
 

Looking to find the section on Exhaust. we currently have the exhaust going from the turbo through the fender in front of the pass side wheel. is there a requirement to have it behind the engine/front wheels/ passenger compartmen/etc...

I've seen exhausts dump out in front of the front wheels. Just make sure it's pointed outward.

You may find that each track has its own exhaust system regulations, due to noise regulation pressure from local neighbors. Old Bridge Twp (NJ). Raceway Park (aka E'town) requires mufflers on everything, except for Sundays, and certain "special event" days (NHRA Nationals). System must include a muffler with at least three chambers, and exhaust must end at or behind the rear edge of the driver's door. Noise limit, if I recall correctly is 90dBA at 100-ft, under full power. My car no longer qualifies, because the mufflers are straight Borla XR1's.

The turbo does a great job quieting it down and if they require "mufflers" we can always squeeze one in there.... I jsut didnt know if there was a specific rule section out of the book that dictated it. I cant imagine it not something we could get an exemption for...

I can go to test and tune without any trouble - Was told that it had to dump at least behind the flywheel when I was looking into getting into bracket racing - Again every track will be different though. I have had no problems with noise, the turbo is still quieter than most cars there with mufflers.
